Volcanic
Incase for some reason the common view had passed you by, I'm here to tell you that New Zealand is outstandingly beautiful. And where else can you find a primary school on the side of a volcano? Here are a selection of photographs:
Mount Victoria, with aforementioned school on the slopes:
The view from the top of North Head, another volcano close to Mount Victoria:
The Rangitoto volcano across the bay from the beach in Devonport:
And the city:
The tall building is the 'Sky Tower', the tallest building in the southern hemisphere. Earlier that day I saw someone jump off the top...

Cycle lanes
I have complained many times about the way cyclists are treated in Evanston, but now finally something appears to be being done about it. Cycle lanes are springing up all over the town. Now they're certainly far from ideal - so far, they are sporadically distributed, and many of them just disappear at junctions, but at least someone's thinking about it.
