Coldness

What the hell is wrong with this town? On Saturday, it was beautifully warm, and I was more than happy sailing on the lake in just a bikini. Then in the space of three days, the temperature has plummeted, today to a measly 12 Celsius.

Almost everything I'd been lead to believe about the weather here so far has been wrong. The winter was (unseasonably) mild, the summer wasn't half as hot or humid as I'd been told, and September, which I had been assured would be delightful, is bloody freezing.

At least the sunny blue skies and crisp air remind me of a Cambridge morning in December. Which is nice.

You want to be in Leeds getting 5 weeks worth of rain in half a hour. And a second hand hurricane!

Or in Korea, getting mosquitoed to death. Apparently, we have a typhoon on the way, but I have yet to see any evidence of this. I am suspicious that it is a Ruse.

I think you want to be in Austin because, er, you've bought a plane ticket to come here. No hurricanes forecast, I'm glad to say. In fact, the weather's rather lovely.

Just like Claire to leave before the severe tornados, thunderstorms, and freakishly huge hail storm that occurred in the Chicago area around 6:00 today. The sky looked like a scene out of one of the many delightful natural disaster movies that Hollywood has been so keen to bestow upon us. Swirling black and gray clouds looking like they were about to form into a tornado at any moment. . . excellent.
