Last weekend, I had my hair cut in America for the first time. I had been putting it off because I was a bit scared about the whole tipping process. When to do it, how much to give etc. etc. Hairdressers are generally scary places in any case. When have you ever said "No that's crap" when the hairdresser asks you if what you've ended up with is ok? But it turned out not to be so bad after all. When I went to pay, the receptionist asked me if I wanted to add the tip to my credit card, and that was that. Although I suppose there was always an assumption that I was going to give a tip.
